Medical Emergency Response Planning

  • Planning of medical and security transport options
  • Preparation in the event of an incident requiring the patient to be evacuated
  • Compliance with established emergency procedures
  • Fulfillment of duty of care obligations towards employees

Operating in an unfamiliar environment is often associated with higher risks.

Business travelers and expatriates on assignment in unfamiliar urban or remote locations may experience heightened anxiety when facing an emergency situation. The lack of knowledge about where and how to find support may lead to unnecessary delays, a critical element in increasing the chances of saving a life.

When quality medical infrastructure is not available locally the patient must be evacuated, sometimes in critical medical condition. Efficient management is therefore essential to ensure the patient's safety throughout the evacuation, and this is enabled through pre-incident planning.

GCS’ Medical Emergency Response Planning (MERP) Center supports global organizations by designing plans to ensure emergencies are handled in a structured and controlled manner and by mitigating the direct or indirect financial impact of an evacuation (air transport and medical costs, indemnity to an employee, rerouting a vessel, etc.).

Our plans are detailed instructions and information for both your organization and our 24/7 Contact Centers on how to manage emergencies in a specific location and time. This enables:

  • Planning of medical and security transport options for city-based or remote (onshore, offshore and maritime) locations
  • Preparation in the event of an incident requiring the injured or sick person to be evacuated
  • Compliance with the requirements of established emergency procedures
  • Fulfillment of duty of care obligations towards employees

MERP documents are created either for city or remote locations and use the Europ Assistance network of providers, companies, agents and Search & Rescue operators around the world to coordinate the best response to an emergency for your employees.
